Well hello there...
A visitor to my garden this year as it has grown and thrived. This little guy was so close too. Even let me feed him some chicken.
Kookaburras are beautiful birds. You can hear their laughter echoing around all parts of Australia. The blue feathers are a rather spectacular feature of these birds.
But they're not as kind as one thinks. They eat meat and as such small mammals or even baby birds can be on the menu. They're just a reminder that not matter what, if it's Aussie, it can do damage.

Giant stinging tree, baby one pictured here. The little hairs stick into your skin injecting a toxin, It hurts - a LOT (first hand experence with both plants). It will not stop stinging till the fine hairs are removed. It takes a long time for your body to push it out of the skin layer.
As seen in the photo Stinging Nettle growing with Stinging Tree

Here's one of my pottedΒ grass treesΒ (#Xanthorrhoea) it's a uniquely Australian plant, which epitomises the Australian landscape it can withstand drought. Bushfires will burn the foliage and blacken the stump, but then it regrows.
When it does flower, it produces spikes, which can grow up to two metres and which eventually turn brown. It can take 20 years for just a trunk to form and it will take years for one to reach its full height. I pruned the liwer foliage today. #AustralianNative

The vivid colour of a fallen forest leaf on a tree fern.
I love the small trails around this area. I go to see what birds I can find and walk past natural vignettes like this so beautifully fallen into place.

This little field of bobbing puff balls were so beautiful in the morning sunshine. All in miniature as they were only 10cm tall. Growing in a sandy clearing on Kangaroo Island.

Yard life
These gorgeous little bugs live in tribes on my native hibiscus bushes. They can often be found in lines of ten or more travelling around the branches. They all change colours together, this is their red era with pink eggs. My favourite is the rainbow stage.
