The sooner we have something like this, the better. Our current Australian flag is too connected to British Monarchy and white Australia. Time to move on.

My fellow Australians, did you pledge alliegiance to the guy with the funky hat?

To be fair, it was a pretty fantabulous hat... Maybe not fantabulous enough to yeet the PM to the other side of the planet for, but pretty fantabulous in a RuPaul sort of way.

The wealthy English people look ridiculous, like they are at a fancy dress party. Time to end the nonsense!

Bit disappointed that Australia is only included in "other realms": the miscellaneous category, and that the biggest religious category, atheists, didn't get a mention. The Handel was excellent.

The way that Kay looks when he is forced to bow down to Arthur is how I feel right now...

ie. at the prospect of having to "bow down" to King Charles and Queen Camilla

The path to an Australian republic isn’t fostering more antipathy towards the monarchy, it’s resolving the complete lack of public trust in the private-school-tie, born-to-rule knobheads that currently fill our parliaments.

The coronation looks like a deeply sinister exercise of unaccountable power. Who taught the English that they need such a ruler? And how will they free themselves when they don't even value freedom?

Letter reveals that King Charles III supported the removal of Gough Whitlam in 1975

'What you did last year was right and the courageous thing to do - and most Australians seemed to endorse your decision when it came to the point,' Charles wrote

The brilliant Barry Jones never misses the mark ~

"The Australian Constitution dates from 1900 and although the product of referenda in the colonies and states, and beginning with the words “Whereas the people ... have agreed”, it is in form an act of the British Parliament, a gracious gift to a distant child. In practice, it has proved almost impossible to amend. Only eight referendums have been carried, the last in 1977, all with bipartisan support.

The biggest possible change to our system in practice would be to actually apply the constitution of the Commonwealth of Australia as it is written. That would really frighten the horses.

Sovereignty would be centred in Britain. The office of prime minister would disappear. The governor-general would act as commander-in-chief, perhaps in the field, make all appointments and frame the budget. Legislation could be vetoed or referred to Buckingham Palace at whim."
