And it *did* lock me of my spare bankaccount,
which I will cancle, due to em not allowing changing my phonenumber (for sms login) via anything but #phone
It's like, its not your own account anymore.
Thank goodness my main bank account uses different #auth (which make it #impossible to be locked out for as long as I still have my bankcard)

Setting up an old phone from scratch, I only had hardware security keys enabled on my #1Password account and it kept failing to login telling the details were incorrect and there might be a typo (there wasn't)
Saw this: https://1password.community/discussion/140708/cant-sign-in-on-ios-app-1password-8 - enabling a TOTP app via the web allowed me to use that to auth the new device
It showed both the #TOTP app and security key option when signing in, but the security key kept erroring

If you ship a desktop app, you don’t need #AuthN because the user is authenticated through their login into their computer.
If you ship to a business, they will have an LDAP or OIDC server or will host one when needed.
If you ship an app with online account, you can just host #Keycloak or #Authentic or pay #auth0.

Would you feel at all suspicious of a site that asked to do so? Knowing that it would allow said site to post to your mastodon account?

As a first or only factor, #biometrics can only be used where the threat model allows for #auth convenience. Auth factors will be compromised, plan accordingly and ensure you can change them.

Just think about it though, if any biometric data is stored off-device (and I assure you it is), when (not if) that database full of biometric data gets leaked how do you plan to change your fingerprints? Your face? Your retinas?
