On Sunday, my son crawled into bed at 6:20. After cuddles and cartoons I took him to the nature center and lunch. He said maybe 5 words to me, which is typical. When we got home I was completely wiped - so my wife took over and I went to nap. As I lay there, he came up behind me, kissed my back and left. As I think about that, I want to take every article, film, and tv show that said autistic people don’t feel empathy, and I want to punch it in the throat. #austism #autismdad #autismparent

New instance, new #introduction - I'm a husband, data scientist, startup veteran, #autismparent, #guitarist, #drummer and serial hobbyist. These days I spend a lot of time thinking about how #data moves through organizations and centralized vs decentralized structures. Any parents of autistic children have success going from mouth breathing to in-through-the-nose, out-through-the-mouth breathing? I want my kid to be healthy and use the cilia they are born with as a filtration system.

We had the time of our lives, the younger one being excited that I let him sing the “cursed words” 😂

This is a new and unknown field to me and my daughter is pretty young so I will first of all read about it more than post I think. But it is nice to connect with others facing an equally situation. :)

@adeline_jerome Sean (the previous psychologist/case manager) was the only bright spot for Caden at school and the only person in the entire administration who we felt was truly advocating and supporting him, everyone else seem to be in “cover your asses” mode while providing the bare minimum required by law. #actuallyautistic #autismparent

As my eldest (12 ASD) #actuallyautistic son heads back to school today after winter break, we’re dealing with some serious school avoidance today. The main culprit? His school psychologist/case manager left after term to a new job out of the district. Caden doesn’t like the new one, this seems like it’s gonna be a problem for a while. #autismparent

Last Wednesday the active threat alarm was triggered at my sons middle school, students were aware this was not a drill and locked down in their classrooms huddled in a corner for over and hour as armed officers cleared the school room by room. Turns out is was accidentally triggered so it was a false alarm. Kids were terrified, Caden told us he made peace with the fact he was going to die.
