Am I the only one thinking that the #autumnbudget only hits the middle and lower classes? Is it really so impossible to add a 50% tax bracket for those earning over, say, £700,000 or a million? Is it so impossible to tax bonuses given to hedgefunders and similar? #tax

The #OBR forecast for the next few years does make me ponder the question-

Are we now just the poor developed nation?

We were in this situation in the 70s and it required something drastic, joining the single market, to pull us out of decades of devaluation and bailouts. Be in no doubt that for the foreseeable we are once again the sick country of Europe. I could and hope I'm wrong and a change of govt could spell a change of trends but I'm not optimistic.
