141 followers · 1890 posts · Server mastodon.ieIn pre-#Avestan Iran, the #calendar consisted of 12 months of 30 days each. Since this is obviously, clearly less than the actual length of a year, every six years, they would postpone New Year's Day by a month.
This would be like if instead of having leap years, we waited ≈120 years and declared that New Year's Day now fell on 1 February, then after another 120 years it fell on 1 March, and so on.
