Earlier this week a special issue of Unlikely, on Birds and Language, launched. Zoe Sadokierski and I have a paper about our monthly trips to Taronga Zoo to visit the captive population of critical endangered Regent Honeyeaters in the journal. I also set up the cloth for the #regenthoneyeater work, ready to stitch, after finishing the poem for the piece over the break. This is one species that may in fact become extinct in the wild during the project, even if the most recent release of captive-bred birds was slightly hopeful. #crossstitch #avianextinction #biodiversity
