Return to Office (RTO) was the topic today on #AVinTheAM

It's really funny to read some of the comments. Every job does not have the same requirements. Every worker does not work the same way. Everyone has preferences about the preferred environment to work in.

RTO, at it's base, is an accessibility issue. Do you force the majority of employees to work from the office even though those conditions may negatively affect a certain portion of the workforce?

Even prior to 2020, I knew people who worked remote because of physical allergies presented by the office air supply systems.

There is no simple answer. It's a fun debate but, at the end of the day, we all need to get our work done so we can pay our bills.

@NJDavidD This question comes back to the differences/similarities between commercial and residential.

Comm installs require repeatability and serviceability. While there are more tech overlaps, network and DvLED come to mind, there are still process differences.

If you're at the show looking for tech, then it makes sense to see what's out there. The catch for resi-focused manufacturers is if they can scale to meet the size of commercial installs with the reverse being true for commercial manufacturers.

@NJDavidD Infocomm is fine as a 3 day exhibit show. It's usually quiet by the third day.

People who want to be there will attend Infocomm. I hope companies are brave enough to send some new peeps.

Blah, blah, blah catchword. I think the largest concern in AV should be what happens to remote workers when the COVID declarations end and where do companies turn with tech companies downsizing.

I would guess US integrators go to see products. Many of them are now global companies so also to visit local teams and clients.

No show to me falls into the "can't miss" category. Ask any company about the sales impact of the shows.

Prosoundtraining.com - seriously, just take the courses to learn about audio.

Acoustics is a science. Think physics or medicine. Find someone who has a degree and start asking questions. Take courses if you want to learn. What you think you know is probably incorrect.

@NJDavidD Can anyone be a tech? There are definitely people, including myself, who you don't want terminating cables. Not matter the tech, put people in places they can succeed. Yes, give them the right tools but also give them the training and the mentorship.

Marketers should be afraid of #AI when it learns how to BS.

Certifications are tests. If you don't review the material on a consistent basis after passing the test, you gradually forget the majority of the information.

Unless you're one of those people who just remember everything. I've met a few who have made me believe that's possible but that's extremely rare.
