This game structures itself to be basically a guaranteed success for anyone who enjoys its shameless tribute to its inspiration, so it's hard not to recommend it to classic Metroid fans who want more of the same overall flow while experimenting with some more out-there upgrades and setpieces in service of slightly elevated plot involvement. The teleport binding is horrible, though. Double-tap? come on.

Finished Axiom Verge. I loved it. At first it felt like a Metroid clone but as it progresses it evolves into something of its own.

Getting above 70% items is difficult because the remaining items are extremely well hidden, often with no clues to their presence. The map doesn’t give you hints and there’s no X-Ray scope or other tool to reveal hidden items like in Metroid. I got to about 85% of items before I eventually gave up and started looking online for hints. #gaming #axiomverge #metroid

My #Steam activities happen mostly during the hols. Here's what I've been playing:

- #AxiomVerge: developed by a close friend's relative. Looks promising altho' I haven't gotten far

- #TIS100: programming game using an assembly-esque lang. Fun!

- #Epistory: there's something oddly satisfying about killing creepy crawlies by typing furiously. I can't aim & shoot to save my life but I'm a mean typist

- Hook, Lyne, and Sinkr: a bundle of puzzle games. I'm a sucker for such games. They relax me.
