Was experimenting around for a bit about #eInk for #Railway #Ticket #Aztec codes.

My aim was to display may daily #InterRail Aztec code on a small e-ink display at a lanyard rather than checking it out on my phone each and every ticket check.

My first attempt was a #badger2040 W as display device, but I figured out it does not have a sufficiently high resolution. Whereas the badger has a 296 x 128 px display, an InterRail Aztec requires at least 256 px to scan.

Even though I lost the #artchallenge I am still proud of what I made and for making a #history based animation.

On the topic of #mixtec there is also a very interesting weapon design found in their codices. This is called the mixtec #sabre

#aztec Experts at #mexicolore were completely confused by this thing. This would be a red flag, but #mesoamerican history has always had a strong central #mexico in its coverage.

The answer comes in the paper "Mixtec Militarism" that can be found free on the internet.

For the last post, this is why one has to be very careful when talking about non-western #philosophy and #religion . There is a long #history of scholars saying people outside of #europe were not capable of philosophy and #rationality.

Portilla was the founder of modern #aztec #history but he faced backlash over his work that is now considered the foundation to the #mesoamerican field.

To be dismissive in #anthropology works is to continue this legacy.

This is a #guide on #aztec #corn casting, from a 1970s #anthropology #book on modern #nahua community beliefs I have lost a while ago.

It was used to for #divination and its most famous use is by #doctors to predict the outcome of their treatment, which #Sahagun called #witchcraft in #history.

Ill share it with other #histodons because I am scared of losing it. I lost the book so I can't make another.
