Why?

2022 marks a decade since the original occupation of Oranienplatz by refugees in 2012, where hundreds set up protest tents to make themselves heard and again visibility.

Despite forced eviction in 2014, the O-Platz movement lives on and many activists continue with their struggles and resistance to this day.

This year, after Russia's war of aggression in Ukraine, third-country nationals and stateless people who fled Ukraine to Germany join the refugee / migrant movement.

They urgently demand equal inclusion in Article 24 to have the right to study, work, and stay in Germany before their legal stay expires after August 31.

Therefore ongoing and new refugee / migrant struggles speak in a united voice to demand justice!

Eine Ausstellung, um die bestehenden und neuen Kämpfe von Geflüchteten und Migrant*innen sichtbar zu machen

Warum?

Im Jahr 2022 jährt sich zum 10. Male die ursprüngliche Besetzung des Oranienplatzes durch Geflüchtete im Jahr 2012, bei der Hunderte von Menschen Protestzelte aufstellten, um sich Gehör und Sichtbarkeit zu verschaffen.

Trotz der erzwungenen Räumung im Jahr 2014 lebt die OPlatz-Besetzung weiter, und viele Aktivist*innen setzen ihre Kämpfe und ihren Widerstand bis zum heutigen Tag fort.

Sie fordern dringend gleiche Rechte und Schutznach Artikel 24 - das Recht zu studieren, zu arbeiten, und sich in Deutschland aufzuhalten - vor der sich abzeichnenden Frist, bis zum 31. August 2022 bis zu der sie lediglich legal in Deutschland bleiben dürfen.
