I don't think there is a healthy way to sit in a Western style chair for any more than a few minutes at a time, especially if you have muscular / tendon issues due to chronic poor and .

So I'm attempting a way of sitting on a bolster with knees on a padded mat, lower legs behind.
I can't cross my legs at all, never really could so any floor-sitting position that allows a straight back is going to be butt on bolster, kneeling, lower legs behind.

Wish I'd started this practice younger, because I don't find it easy to maintain for more than 15 minutes at a time. Lots of pressure on legs and my back muscles are very weak, so it's hard not to revert to form and "sit" / curl back on a couch in very unhealthy ways.

But the straight-back, grounded position encourages a mental stillness, which is a refreshing change. Sitting in a chair means Thinking, Thinking, Thinking for me.
