PSA to grandparents that children cannot cash money orders without being 18 and having a state id, AND any alteration of a money order invalidates it. So despite the Western Union sites saying, "Use them to give a gift..." or that naive Walmart cashier saying they would accept it signed over; no the parents can't just have the kid sign it over (defeats the purpose of the money order).
