I saw an even more inane take from an actual* lawyer on one of the other sites:
“The First Amendment protects all speech!”
(*) but given that quote, there’s a solid chance he paid someone else to pass the bar for him
also “But it’s legally impossible to prove what he was thinking [when he ordered a coup]!”
@Pwnallthethings this is why we need #BadLegalTakes. Already seeing what are probably bad #Section230 takes.
This isn't at all a negative thing, but would make an account like #badlegaltakes a lot harder to operate here and in some ways I think the ability to "dunk" on a person (or bot) who was there just to get a reaction brought with it a certain satisfaction that is missing from Mastodon. Again, don't think it's a bad thing, just different. I rather prefer civil discussion where we all agree on the facts and we can argue in the margins. Just strange to see in 2022.
Funny thing about drafting policies: bad ideas + bad legal writing = unintended consequences will bite you in the *ss. In case you’re wondering how things are going on the bird site: Musty blocked the flight-tracking accts that he disliked and tried to change TOS. Under new TOS, lots of OSINT & other public avail info would suddenly be banned. Reversing course. Oopsie.

Enjoying the 🐦 meltdown immensely. Going to miss the #badlegaltakes a little though.
