I'm an Assoc Professor (tenured recently enough that saying it comes with a squee!) at Michigan State. I'm primarily in the CMSE dept, secondary appointment in Math.
My research is in Topological Data Analysis. I love making the complicated accessible. I'm proudest of my students and postdocs. I want to make my little corner of academia better than the one I survived.

This is what bad Science Fiction looks like. Not because doing just graphics has never been enough for SciFi, nor because there is no 'science' to it at all, but because there is no story and no answer to any question whatsoever; it's just vanity at its worse, and pompous nonsense. A bad dead end. 👎 😒
But it appears to be good click-bait for a network like CNN.
