Possibly heresy to say this, but I always preferred #TheClangers to #Bagpuss. Bagpuss was pretty great, loved BP himself, and the mice, just not quite as good as The Clangers, which is the greatest children’s TV of all time.

49 years ago today the first episode of Bagpuss ("a saggy, old cloth cat, baggy, and a bit loose at the seams") aired. Peter Firmin and Oliver Postgate’s masterpiece, Bagpuss is 13 episodes of charming stories narrated by Oliver Postgate, with the voices & music of Sandra Kerr & John Faulkner.
Bagpuss’s companions were Madeleine the doll, Gabriel the toad, Professor Yaffle the woodpecker and the mice, with their Marvellous Mechanical Mouse Organ.

Garfield cos I was kinda obsessed with him when I was a kid.

Huskies because the family dog I grew up with was a lovely Siberian Husky whom I miss.

Rat hand puppet because I had pet rats whom I also miss. In fact I even used the puppet with them a couple of times and it was fun.

Visited the '100 Years of the BBC' exhibition in the National Museum in Cardiff which was great, and it also brought back some old memories. #bbc #bagpuss
