The situation of Abdulhadi al-Khawaja jailed in Bahrain arbitrarily and in hunger strike is awful. His daughter Maryam al-Khawaja, is planning to risk her life and go back to Bahrain to have him free. I don't think I can even understand how I would feel and react to this situation. HRW newsletter today started with "If you want to know what perseverance and courage look like, look no further than Maryam al-Khawaja."

“This year, protests will begin on Monday 4 September, lasting for two weeks. The first week will target the setting up of the arms fair. STAF [Stop The Arms Fair] is coordinating the fortnight of resistance, with other groups organising specific events or days.

It is impressive how #India gets to be one country despite its #diversity yet #Arabs can’t unite not even economically. Couldn’t even unite #UAE, #Qatar and #Bahrain and they speak the same dialect*. Of course the reason for both is #imperialism.

* Bahrain and Qatar were going to be the 8th and 9th UAE emirates but dialogue failed.
