Seeing a lot of comments on Facebook about Porto's (Disney is gaining a Porto's and losing a La Brea) and about how there is no line at La Brea on La Brea.
But that was one of the reasons we loved La Brea vs. Porto's or République, which are also great. We're sleep-deprived parents with an 8 month old. Not standing in line is a big perk.

Yesterday, the usual trip to #Todmorden #market to get our weekly shop, it's great to still have a traditional #town market that sells every-day stuff like bleach, fresh veg, meat (four butchers - #local, own-#farm, #freerange) and fresh bread (four #bakeries making their own bread from scratch).

Today's #serendipity moment was in la Serra d'Almos, one of those #Catalan villages, surrounded by cherry trees and vineyards, located the foothills of Reserva Natural Llaberia. It's an area which is hidden from sight until it finds you.
One of the four business that have survived is Forn Artesà Cristina Miró where they still make bread on the premises, baked in the original wood oven of the 1920's.
#Bakeries in rural #Catalonia are a stern no frill experience; the #bread is of the basic kind with patissets, cocas and some other sweetmeats sold on the side.
Bought two fresh, fragrant crunchy loafs, some local sheep cheese from the shop next door and went home happy.

A lot of the #British #artisan and #boujie #bakeries and #breadmaking indie businesses in local towns and villages seem to thrive on making #sourdough bread. Personally? I find it irks the gut and is awful to digest.
Can we go back to having a corker of a #farmhouse white, hot from the #oven, so I can race home with it to smother it in salted #butter and best #jam?
I have a #breadmaking machine at home, but sometimes its nice for others to do the baking for me.
