Two #Hamantaschen (apricot, prune), a #baklava, dried pineapple and dates.

Gearing up for a houseful of Super Bowl friends tomorrow and spent the day cooking in the kitchen. 😊 My sweet dish is something I call Lazy Baklava!

It's just baklava "stuffing" (pistachios + walnuts + melted butter + sugar + honey + ground cloves + cinnamon + lemon juice) in wonton skins and baked in a mini muffin/cupcake pan. No fighting with phyllo.

Let me tell you about the best #baklava I've ever had. It's sweet but not too sweet, just sticky enough. The nuts are fresh, the honey is the best I've ever had. Light and flaky. Of course it's from Sunrise Deli! When they posted this morning in their Instagram stories that they had it fresh, I had to swing by on the way home. These guys are the best!!!

Ja, precies. En ook nog eens een boeiend #fenomeen voor iedereen.
Het zijn vaak simpele dingen, die mensen hebben meegekregen uit hun cultuur, waar je samen om kan lachen als je er open voor staat.
Een Marokkaan spreekt lovend over de #couscous van zijn oma.
Een Turk over zijn #baklava.
En mijn vader (een 'well to do') was gek op #reebout en óók #balkebrei en #bloedworst, boerenlekkernijen in NL.
Soms kun je elkaar beter begrijpen als elkaars eten waardeerd, etc....

Brown Butter baklava.
I replaced some of the sugar with golden syrup.
Browned the butter both for the syrup and the phyllo dough.
And use salted butter (which browns perfectly fine, just lower the heat a bit and whisk more frequently).
You can see that it’s a little more sensitive to heat in the lower right, I’d start keeping a closer eye at about 35-40 minutes than I did on this one.
