I recently put #LinuxMint onto a 2011 #MacbookAir and it runs beautifully now.

You'll need to boot to USB and the USB stick will have to have Linux Mint (or whatever your choose) written to it by #BalenaEtcher https://www.balena.io/etcher

AHA - I finally used unarchiver to open up the install package and then used #BalenaEtcher to write the installESD to a stick.

But yeah... got it all working everything fine...

... then I installed #LinuxMint over the top of it. 🤣

Hooo boy - re-installing Lion on a 2011 #MacbookAir is *not easy!*

The laptop can't do it via network because, apparently, Apple let some file certificates lapse in 2018.

You have to dl a Lion install, open up the pkg and fish out InstallESD.dmg, THEN burn that to a USB stick with #BalenaEtcher

Wish me luck, I'm not gonna count my chickens until they boot.

#Ventoy brachte die Lösung wo die mit #Rufus und #BalenaEtcher erzeugten Bootsticks keine Wirkung zeigten.

Der erste Livetest mit #Mint war schon sehr sexy, Ton, Touch, Akkuanzeige, alles da aber auch alles noch im Trockendock mit USB Tastatur und Maus.

Giving Home Assistant a try. Flashing SD card, probably the easiest part, became a bit of a hassle. Balena Etcher (latest) failed during final steps. Gave up after several tries. Rufus came to rescue. Done for the day, next steps next day.

Muss man erstmal drauf kommen, dass bei den aktuellen Images von headless #raspberrypi der #ssh Standard User nicht mehr enthalten ist. Wäre fast verzweifelt ;-)

Einzige Lösung scheint die Nutzung des 'rpi-imager' zu sein, wo man vorm Flashen den user in den Optionen anlegen kann.
