It amazes me sometimes just how broadly applicable ballroom and ballet skills are: good posture, soft knees, fully extended limbs, controlled facial expressions and eye movements, and, most importantly, making sure to breathe all serve you well in the most unexpected places.

If you're a ballroom dancer, should you compete? In my experience if you have the money to spare and don't have anything else more compelling going on in your dance life it's good to look forward to the next competition. Nothing helps you hone skills like a challenging goal.
