Unfortunately, I understand this now and not in the 80s and 90s. I listened back then Heavy Metal, and the image (long hair, etc.) and the categorization of the music (pop, etc., which of course does not mean anything in itself) disorientation me in that time, especially as a teenager. As for #SineadoConnor and #GeorgeMichael for example.
