The Ballymurphy Massacre took place on 11 August 1971 two days after the introduction of internment without trial in Northern Ireland. Eleven people were killed by members of the British Parachute Regiment in the nationalist Ballymurphy area of Belfast. Those killed include a Catholic priest Father Hugh Mullan who was helping a wounded parishioner and Joan Connolly, a mother of eight. 1/2
