In the year after the excavation, the density of active swimming animals, such as fish and shrimp, dropped by 43% in areas directly affected by sediment kicked up by mining, and by 56% in adjacent areas. The results show that effects are felt beyond the mining areas “by a pretty substantial amount”.

@adrake for sure, which gets at my point about there being no nuance in their interpretation of the phrase. It's just "ban all cars everywhere".
Maybe #BanCarsInCities is short enough to get around this hurdle and still be useful. But in my experience, even when talking specifically about cities, rural people will still feel attacked.
