#Chinese #EV battery maker #CATL, and others have been ramping up investment on the prospect of #Indonesia's role in supporting 50% of global refined #Ni (nearly $596 billion in 2022). With #ElonMusk forging closer ties w/President #Jokowi and supporting more Chinese involvement, it looks more like #sustainability will 'take a back seat' to unfettered large-scale financial leveraging, even w/the potential & realised #publichealth and #ecological impacts, à la #Bangtaeng.

Group), seemingly irrespective of facility #toxic dust emissions that coats #plants, #fruits, #homes, and #ppl, w/reports of #healthimpacts. The solution? Uprooting & relocating #communities. Questions remain about Huadi's community #landgrab & incomplete #EIA statement. #SDG11, not.
