Baylor University has not been controlled by the Baptist church since 1990. The Board of Regents has only 1/4 members from the church, yet they've applied for *and received* permission to discriminate against LGBTQ rights while receiving federal funds!

In 1986, Dr. Charles Stanley of the First Baptist Church of Atlanta, Georgia, proclaimed that AIDS was a scourge from God sent against gay people. I was one of hundreds who protested around his church one Sunday as their service was letting out. Dr. Stanley had his lay preachers performing exorcisms on us. We had independent Baptist preachers reading the New Testament back at them. Stanley spewed a lot of hate in his time. It was the era of Jerry Falwell and the Moral Majority. Stanley wrote that he believed in the “think and grow rich” philosophy. Sounds like most of the corrupt evangelical preachers I’ve heard over the years.
