The week kept me too busy to do much of anything celebratory about my birthday. My one treat was sitting down for a proper shave at a downtown barber shop. Steam and hot towel treatment, followed by a thorough straight razor shave and yes, the icy hot aftershave. It felt amazing.

I took a picture of one of the guys cutting a customer’s hair. It’s a fun vibe: Lots of sports apparel, jewelry, tats, and fancy sneakers, wise cracks flying across the room, all ages getting neatened up.

@johnbranigan Plus there's the benefit to the other customers at the #barbers by making the room brighter whenever you are there for a cut. You have so many arguments on your side.

Mind you, with styling gel at 50p per 100ml at Asda and Triplewax at 80p per 100ml, they might get you on the consumables costs if you say yes when they ask if you want "product".

If they try to gouge you for a £10 chamois leather from Halfords, tell them that it's half that from Wickes.

I am a middle aged man whose hair is thinning on top fast. I calling for my fellow baldies and other thinning hair owners to fight back againt Barber/Hairdresser prices. Why should there be a fixed price for ALL Men when some own a shit load more hair than others? Why should I pay the same price for a 5 minute haircut than an 18 year old with luscious locks?

I propose a strike. (P.S. Maybe wear a hat on the picket line)
