I myself can remember the mighty river before cotton & he’s right. It’s been polluted, pillaged & abused ever since.
I can remember the swimming holes along the river. Semi permanent they were, only becoming shallower in the worst droughts. Under the old railway bridge we’d swing from ropes, diving into 20foot of water.
