So when I got a job in (read: near) the town I just moved to, that’s when I gave myself permission to quit my old shitty job and actually move. Which is good! And I’ve got another job lined up, which I’m very grateful for. So I’m just at this (first) job till I get started at the second one. I’m very lucky!

BUT

This “bridge” job is turning out to be utter bullshit. There are just so many things that suck, I’m texting my gf and she’s like “just walk out!” and I’m very tempted to take her advice

I was a bartender for many yrs before I started working in advertising. I still hate St. Patrick's Day. I think I always will. This yr, it falls on Friday, which is exponentially worse. Let's have a moment of silence for all the across the land (& across the water, too). The rest of you, tip well, tip often, keep your stomach contents to yourself, & pls try to restrain yourself from asking strangers if they have any Irish in them.

There is a mixicological term we use at home when making that might describe something actual may do, but probably not in these words.

When you’re making two of the same in a large mixing glass, and you pour them into the cocktail glasses for serving, but the serving amounts are uneven?

SPOONULAR REALLOCATION.

Praise to the chefs and bartenders fair
Who give life to Tainan's oldest town
With grilled beef tongue and wild black-sesame espresso martinis on their menu so rare
The tastes and aromas are surely renown

I keep a note on my cell phone with bartender names organized by the bar they work. I write a quick description of each with the nights they woek. I do this because I feel bad when they remember my name and I don't remember theirs. If I don't like them, and they ask my name, I reply " Frank". That way, if anyone outside of a bar ever calls me Frank.I immeciately know I don't like them before even trying to recall who they are.

The restaurant industry needs unionization SO BAD. Hell, we’re so far behind we need to start with getting some class consciousness. So many of us deal with insane hours and ridiculous expectations from management, and any pushback is just met with “well that’s how our industry is.”
I think a lot of it is the absurd “pride” a lot of Americans take in working extreme hours. It’s one thing to take pride in the work you do, it’s another thing entirely to let yourself get exploited all so some coked-out sex pest can afford a boat.
