I found this out by the dog run this morning. We've had lots of wind, so it probably blew there. This is a devil's claw. It has little sharp barbs at the end of the long arms. The fruit from this plant can be eaten. It is kind of like okra. Indigeneous peoples use its fiber for basket making. It is a long process to prepare, but makes a fortress of a basket. #introduction -- Hi! I've recently got myself setup over on @SaraRassner@mstdn.science and wanted something for less work-related stuff. I do lots of different #crafts, including #knitting #crochet #nålbindning #spinning and #basketweaving. I'm into #beekeeping and am a member of #TBKA Teifiside Beekeepers' Association. I'm also fairly new to #hamradio and especially keen on #SOTA, which lets me combine radio with #hiking, and learning #morsecode. I love #languages and have studied several incl #Cymraeg.

@timsl The Big Elephant was built be lots of different people on 100s of separate servers, all interconnected like villages, towns and cities. Each small one has its speciality #Cycling #BasketWeaving etc. Bigger servers may cater for more varied interests. Each one is run, and paid for, by the people who 'live' there. As refugees these people have kindly let us into their homes until we get one of our own. Costs about £6 per month I understand, for a small village! Hope that helps.
