Another of my #woodcarvings with and without a paint job.
Again, it started as a 4x1x1" piece of #basswood. Once it's carved, I paint them with #watercolor then give them a coat of varnish. For this guy I also added a wooden disc base with fake grass and a little plastic dog. Just to finish it off..

Basswood, 4x1x1". Done using a #flexcut Carvin' Jack multi tool. But, really, you can use any knife. As long as it's sharp.

Usually I carve and that's that. This time I decided to give it a sand with a Dremel drum and a manual smooth with fine sandpaper. Came out not too bad.

A chonky #linden #tree for #ThickTrunkTuesday. I’ve never seen a trunk like this before! This tree (also sometimes called a #basswood) can be found almost anywhere in the #midwest and east coast of the #US - all the way from #florida, to even parts of southern #Canada.
