BATNA stands for "Best Alternative To Negotiated Agreement". It's basically the alternative to what you'd (be kinda forced to) do if there was no agreement.
For example, if you are looking for a job and need a paycheck to cover next month's rent, your BATNA is homelessness and it is hopelessly weak.
LESSON LEARNED: Never reveal your BATNA in a negotiation because a weak BATNA, as you can obviously see, compromises your negotiation.
