Last was a compelling talk by Ilana Gershon on how norms develop in the digital world, with a particular focus on #hiring, at #BayCHI. This is a talk from almost 6 years ago, and it shows in that algorithmic hiring isn't the main event. However it serves as an important reminder that many of the issues Gershon surfaces are by no means solved, and the (probably correct) choice to focus on algorithmic hiring today means other issues are falling by the wayside https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WD_xM8JqZdI (7/7)
First was an interesting talk by @joyokim on designing approaches for #crowdsourcing group creative output at #BayCHI. This talk pre-dates the LLM frenzy, and it's instructive to see how we can choose to design technologies that achieve the same output but with very different societal effects https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UiQK7TEKJOU (2/9)
Last was a timely talk by @andrewhead on creating interactive scientific paper authoring and reading at #BayCHI. Shockingly, Head demonstrates that yes, you can make really useful tools without LLMs! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tYHnct_lNeA (12/12)
Next was an enjoyable talk by Ellen Yi-Luen Do on creative technology and #design at #BayCHI. Do showcases some amazing work - paper interfaces, robotic environments for #VR, and more. You'll want video for this one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yhF-J96TiTs (4/9) #HCI #robots

Next was an engaging talk by Jeff Johnson on designing #tech for an aging population at #BayCHI. This is an evergreen talk, getting into the importance of including older users in #design, the benefits that brings to other user groups, and some common #HCI mistakes that impact this group https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qpLgvmYe4Uw (3/7)
