Been really enjoying Bay Wheels this week to get around the city as a fast and relatively cheap option (minus the membership fee / questionable “unlock fee”).

But saddened that yet again, a critical and important part of public transportation infrastructure is outsourced to a private company and locked within a proprietary payment system.

Sometimes when you try to check out a Bay Wheels bike, the dock makes a sound like "Ka-Lunk Ka-Lunk Ka-Lunk Ka-Lunk ... BAAAHH" and gives up. You might think that the bike is simply unavailable and you need to choose another one. Not true! While it's doing the Ka-Lunk Ka-Lunk thing, just yank the bike out of the dock and it's all good. #BayWheels #ProTip
