Dad got this summer with my cousin and sister because they all just wanted a British family birthday here in for his 80th.

We had been booked to join them up coast but found out two days prior to leaving. We called off the trip with several folks covid sick at the house we were planning to stay.

It was then we discovered no longer refunds for covid cancellations, as to them the pandemic is over. We had to pay to drop our reservation days from our trip, knowing the ferry we had reserved would only be 75% full.

For businesses like , ignoring the pandemic is just an extra cash grab. Book another ferry now, pay us 20 bucks or go get sick. They ultimately profited off our loss.

, , , and are the pack of unrepentant spiders who’ve spun this covid web of deception lulling our population into and .

Profit over kindness is what they’ve successfully preached.

We must vote every one of these anti mask, anti health covid out. We must demand a true independent inquiry of this and their to .

needs to and attempt to restore trust in . British Columbia deserves true health leadership, not more and from a longtime corrupt govt shill.

I think we should come to the conclusion that ferries made in and around the 1990s were not built to last. They seemed ok but now this is the second Coastal class BC Ferry to have major issues keeping it from service this year and the Spirit Class out of Victoria has had major issues as well. And shall I utter the words “Fast Ferry”.

Meanwhile, the venerable Queen of Alberni among the last Queen vessels built in the 1970s, keeps on truck— Errr Ferry’in.

Sure, Alberni has had her moments but there is a reason she's still in service and it probably has a lot to do with the over-maintenance culture of BC Ferries in the 70s and 80s versus the “build-it-ship-it-now” culture since.

In its worst atrocity yet, demonstrates it doesn't know Sarah McLachlan well enough to spell her name correctly. (I'm tolerating the spelling of *NSYNC without the asterisk because a) even they were wildly inconsistent on their own spelling and b) they're not British Columbian).

My bike is perched so very precariously on this ferry I'm certain it will fall over and I really need to understand that people often ride bikes to the Southern Gulf Islands and it's not hard at all to put a few little bike racks on the boat.

“Last Ride on the Mayne Queen” by Terrill Welch, 11 x 14 inch acrylic on gessobord.

Artist notes: We got our own private goodbye with the Mayne Queen this evening. There was no cake but the Big Dipper was present and the steady rumble of that diesel engine gently lulling us across the calm water. I will miss this old gal and the views she offered up with humble assurance.

The only thing that could make a trip better, would be the lack of constant bullshit
