@trashrobot I was going to send you to #BeakerBrowser to suggest something #p2p rather than the tech stack on your diagram, but looks like it shut down!
Maybe there's some good insights there: https://github.com/beakerbrowser/beaker/blob/master/archive-notice.md
Today I tried to retrieve #dat #beakerbrowser content on my older machine. Except my own content, I found nothing I seeded at the time (2018). Fortunately, I made a video capture of my project #floatingswarm running on Beaker when it was still active https://peertube.swrs.net/w/02be8529-46c9-4002-9019-844b18594dca

I am sad that the #BeakerBrowser has been archived. For a short period of time, the Beaker Browser was home to a handful of people who were all working on their own hyperdrive sites. It was like a small workshop, with people from all over the world. I had the hope that the subculture we've been waiting for all these years would emerge over there. I had the hope that a new design language would develop, that DIY would become radical again. Too bad you're leaving, #Beaker. RIP
Where should the 3rd part of http://olia.lialina.work/ go since #Beakerbrowser is officially dead?https://github.com/beakerbrowser/beaker/blob/master/archive-notice.md
Beaker browser: https://beakerbrowser.com : A p2p browser. You can make your own website in minutes, and host it on your computer in the browser itself. No server required. Can be used to send large file. Not as reliable as the previous 2: I had difficulty to connect between computers.

#BeakerBrowser hasn't seen an update for a year, sadly. :(

I hope those great beginnings won't stop where they are, but at least inspire other projects.
@AaronTheIssueGuy @csolisr
Yes (to both) I think it's similar. I'm thinking more in the lines of mesh networking and less organised federation between local clusters. But maybe torrenting really makes sense here. Gotta think about that point again, thanks!
And yes, I like the #BeakerBrowser a lot and am watching the project closely!
The #BeakerBrowser project is ending, and I'm bummed about it, and I'm still sad that the planned social features were removed from v1.0. It was such a cool project, and I wish it could've jumpstarted the Accessible Web 1.0 movement for less technical people. Oh well. Maybe the next thing will help bring us closer.
Gopher and Gemini seem like cool projects, but they're not really for "normal" people—my friends and family won't use it because it's not easy, and that's the biggest problem for all of these kinds of cool projects that puts control back in the hands of individuals.

@TheFuzzStone I had a look at #BeakerBrowser just now and I like it very much.
Though I don't find any people using it _or_ their content being live. Thinking about putting a website on a server and seeing what happens.
I used Beaker Browser back when hypercore was still called dat.
Since the renaming, I've been trying to open every hyper:// url I came across with Beaker Browser and was consistently greeted with a "Site Not Found". It doesn't seem to be able to open dat:// urls either.
Does anybody have a working hyper:// url I can test with?
I am using Beaker Browser 1.1

If anyone's on #BeakerBrowser and has time/is willing to give some feedback, please check this post:

#BeakerBrowser version 1.0 got released!
https://www.beakerbrowser.com/2020/12/02/beaker-1-0.html
I have a profile up there with links to a couple of neat Beaker projects I've made, and I'm working on a blog post to help with onboarding! I'll post again once it's ready.

I just contributed a pull request to #BeakerBrowser that adds in ad blocking via filter lists that can be edited on the settings screen!
https://github.com/beakerbrowser/beaker/pull/1801
A lack of ad blocking was one of the major features holding me (and several other people that I'm aware of) back from using Beaker as a main browser, so getting this added in will be very exciting!
If anyone's interested in #HomeChat, which I made for #BeakerBrowser, check it out here!

I'll be online for about another hour :)
I'm working on a slightly fancier chat room for #BeakerBrowser. My hope is to make a chat room that you can leave open to act as a "house" for getting in touch with each other. If you're not "home", people can't chat with you. Could be fun!
Wow, I just found out about Homebase, which is a way to set up a web host to be a permanent peer for your Beaker Browser sites in case you ever need to turn off your computer! It even lets you mirror your #BeakerBrowser sites to HTTP so you don't need a secondary website or something!
https://github.com/beakerbrowser/homebase
You can bet I'm gonna be setting this baby up on my home server. I'm not sure if I'll move all my websites and stuff to it yet, though... Maybe eventually, but not yet.
Alright, so I've got the VvvebJs HTML builder set up for basic Beaker Browser support! You can save and load HTML files and images to and from your local hyperdrives! There's still more to do, but take a look if you're interested in what the experience might be like using it!
hyper://0b6a7d1383330e8c7651e968dd0e5953f639259bcb78bb41dcb384a2d0407300/
Note that this will only work on the #BeakerBrowser version 1 beta, so if you have Beaker already, use the "Check for beta releases" button in the settings or just download it from the install page:
https://beakerbrowser.com/install/
I started working on implementing a visual HTML page builder with Beaker Browser (v1.0 beta) functionality so you can build a web page, save it to a local hyperdrive site, and also re-load the same page to make changes later!
It's still not quite as super simple as I really want, but having page builders like this is *essential* for letting normal people get i cluded and involved in the #SmallWeb!
