Before I get stuck into your wonderful thread 🧵 can you explain please what an HOA is (your first toot!) ?

We have similar problems with #beavers 🦫 being killed in Scotland, despite them having just been reintroduced and declared a ‘protected species’ by #ScottishGovernment in 2019. Now they are licensing the destruction of ‘problem’ beavers ‘coz folk won’t give them space

I would like to share my #beaverbeliever origin story. One night in April 21, I idly checked my Facebook feed while watching TV with my husband and discovered that an HOA in my suburb was planning to trap and kill a pair of #beavers who had moved into their #water retention ponds and were cutting down trees.

Typically when "nuisance" beavers are trapped and killed, trappers use underwater traps. Because beavers are semi-aquatic animals, they can hold their breath for 15 minutes.
