The #movie Volcano not only has a lot more community reacting to the disaster than the average Hollywood movie focusing on individual heroics, it also passes the #BechdelTest. Granted, it also has a dummy being yeeted from a fire engine, but that’s really a bonus.

If Alice *thinks* she's talking to Bob but is *actually* talking to Mallory (and they're not talking about a man) - does that pass the test? I might be overthinking this ;-)

("Mallory" may be gender-neutral but the name always reminds me of Leo McGarry's daughter in the West Wing.)

Necesitamos un test de Bechdel para la brecha de clase.

El test de Bechdel es un método para evaluar la brecha de género en las películas en general y, por extensión, en las series u otras producciones artísticas. Para pasar el test, la película debe cumplir lo siguiente:

1. Aparecen al menos dos personajes femeninos
2. que mantienen una conversación
3. que no tiene como tema un hombre.

Este test se ha generalizado como una forma sencilla de destacar la poca presencia femenina en la industria del cine.

Hagamos el análogo para evaluar la brecha y la presencia de nuestra clase. Os animo a que comprobéis si las series que veis cumplen lo siguiente:

1. Aparecen al menos dos personajes de clase trabajadora
2. que mantienen entre ellos una conversación.
3. que no tiene como tema alguien o algo de clase alta (ni ocurre en un espacio de clase alta).

Just found out that all of my favourite Movies pass the #bechdeltest successfully: Some like it hot, Breakfast at Tiffanys, Rocky (1), Alien, Alien 2, the Empire strikes back..

Nearly 3 hours running time and it can't scare up one conversation between two women that's not about a man (#BechdelTest)?! But the world it creates isn't too far off from today's.
