As soon as people stop consenting, their protection and power is a penny's worth of tin metal badge and aboout as much use. Cops get stomped flat. Reading James C. Scott's book Two Cheers for Anarchism really gave me a new perspective on the slogan 'become ungovernable'. To be fair, I always thought it was a meme & the expression how anarchism contains subcultures. Now I realize that actually being ungovernable is a legitimate strategy that helps further one's goals.

Also, when leaders of movements emerge, they can communicate with the politicians. They can have demands and negotiate and then the crowd can be pacified. Which can be a disaster, because usually, there are compromises.

It's also a delight now reading Paulo Freire talk about exactly the same thing (but without mentioning Scott).

So yeah, #BecomeUngovernable, it's not a meme, it's a solid tactic of resistance and change.
