I run a monthly #beerclub at work, and this month the theme was English Beer. We went through the sparknotes history of the styles that spawned the varieties we love today, plus did a #beertasting of 5 ales and they voted for their fave #beer.

Lineman brewery are one of the best Irish microbreweries. They produce all styles of beer from light pales to strong dark stouts.

This Big Calm brown ale is seriously impressive. Lovely roast coffee hit from the brown malt.

The problem with twitter in general, and beertwitter specifically, was it went from people sharing information and ideas to an influencer system. We went from the usenet days of brewers arguing about beer to "journalists" (here, that term means whomever writes about beer) arguing about beer and sometimes not beer. And somehow gathering more followers than the people that actually make beer. Weird little industry we made. #Beertwitter

Question: is it possible to make a pub a safe beer event space? Can you ban people for one night who you know are problematic? Or should they be barred anyway regardless? #beer #beertwitter
