I appreciate that #JoeAbercrombie can write a chapter introducing half a dozen new characters and by the end they are each distinct and memorable—by name—when I finish. I finished book one earlier this year, and started book two in December but haven’t finished it yet.

Not a whole lot to say here. These are some of the most popular books in #fantasy. I get the broad appeal, and I’m enjoying them. They’re polished and easy to get into. But they’re also a little bland.

I mean, that’s what I was looking for, something extremely low-effort but rewarding. So… success?
