P.S. doesn’t just relieve stress, and ABAers aren’t “unwittingly” grooming kids for exploitation. and otherwise scholars, activists, and survivors have been saying violates and nonhuman for decades. As Leonard Cohen said, “Everybody knows.”

The isn’t becoming ; it’s been fascist.

Per Sheffer, “Asperger's diagnosis of autistic psychopathy emerged from the values and institutions of the Third Reich.”

And as Chomsky articulated, “The corporations are just as totalitarian as Bolshevism and fascism.”

and otherwise people warned all of you about what would happen if you continued to enable , but you didn't heed our wisdom.

To quote @drrobertchapman, "Lenin visited Pavlov to ask him to help standardize the population."

"Standardization," in Einstein's view, "is a great peril which threatens American culture."

I understand what Freire dubbed the "fear of freedom," but this "initial stage of struggle" has lasted quite a long while.

Modern stems from , a manifestation of which is , a system of rewards and punishments pioneered by O. Ivar Lovaas in the early 1960s to try to make and otherwise kids “indistinguishable from their peers.”

Many are also members of the + community, as we experience and by extension express , , and differently.

Thus, is not only , it’s also , , , , and a ton of other things because there are obviously neurodivergent people in every minority group.

The problem with 2nd order , as I see it, is that the process of “observing how an observer is doing the observing” presumes that another (external, 2nd-order) observer has more to say and a better understanding of the original observing process than the (1st-order) observed observer itself that is actually doing the observation.

It seems to me like the tacit re-introduction of and control vs. controlled.

“You cannot understand the history of education technology in the United States during the twentieth century – and on into the twenty-first – unless you realize that Seymour Papert lost and B. F. Skinner won.”
—Audrey Watters

Behaviorism is dead.

Despite that,

Behaviorism won.

And neurodivergent and disabled students lost.

Letter to the Boston Globe on “The Mismeasure of Misha: My son broke free from the most common therapy for autism. Why is it used on so many kids like him?”

“I am writing this because I hate when neurodivergent or disabled people are silenced, over-looked and taken advantage of. That is exactly what happens with ABA therapy.”

@JoelN Minority groups have been wrongfully pathologized to justify social hierarchies under for centuries. Indeed, it wasn’t until May 17, 1990 that the World Health Organization depathologized homosexuality. The pathologization of , on the other hand, persists. As a consequence, , a pseudoscientific ideology designed to enforce compliance, lives on in dehumanizing practices like Applied Behavior Analysis and its insidious derivatives. Indeed, even grading is a behaviorist method, for it rewards obedience. Please read or listen to my latest post on Medium to learn why we must democratize and replace behaviorism with pedagogy.

@biomimic Last Wednesday, a state senator from the DFL Party visited the MNSU Student Government and told us on camera that he’s a capitalist. While, yes, I’ve had some success meeting with Democrats to advocate for the abolition of and support of worker-owned cooperatives, ultimately, there is no under . There is, however, some variation within the DFL. Hopefully, some of the newly-elected representatives put their lived experience in marginalized communities to good use and follow through on their apparent commitment to support social movements. I’m looking forward to working with a couple politicians I’ve developed a rapport with over the last several months and pushing for policies to recognize and civil rights for citizens, among other things.

Wait; history and science (including Milgram) of course confirm what I am saying.
Take the Milgram experiments: They show that you have to create fear and a climate of authoritarianism to subdue people and make them act according to your will. The same could be said about all of . It does not disprove what is said above at all! It just teaches us about the limits.

Why is science on the side of what I am saying? Because could not have been developed, otherwise!

@jjinsing I hesitate to give you, an expert, recommendations. 😬 But aside from all the animal cognition/emotions stuff I’m using as reference, Franz De Waal’s 2019 (popular not scientific) book _Are We Smart Enough to Know How Smart Animals Are_ is more or less a history of the field. In the first 2-3 chapters, he talks about the v. Ethologist approaches and the nature of scientific debate as it evolved from ca. 1920s-1970s. He’s decidedly on the side.

cross-sectional correlational psychology

I hate the prejudice against research designs that considers laboratory studies with rats superior as a method to understand humans.

The design should match the research question.
