提起比利时牧羊犬，很多人可能会立刻想起马犬---马力努阿犬malinois的简称。其实，比利时牧羊犬是四个品种的统称：马犬，特佛伦犬tervuren(图1)，格罗安达groenendael(图2)和雷克努阿laekenois(图3)。它们都起源于比利时，以来自比利时的地区命名：Malines、Tervuren、Groenendael 和 Laeken。

事实上，比利时曾有八种独特的牧羊犬。到了 1890 年代，当它们首次被正式分类时，只剩下我们今天所知道的四种。它们在结构是相同的，但皮毛质地、颜色和长度不同。这四种狗的血缘关系非常密切，以至于当繁殖任何两只毛色和长度相同的狗时，不同“品种”的小狗可能会出现在同一窝中。

其中，短毛的马犬多功能很精干，是非常全能的工作犬。由于它的曝光率非常高，工作中的视频看起来又那么帅气机敏，很多人都觉得马犬是很好训练的好伴侣。但实际上，马犬决不适合新手和没有训练经验的人养！它是真正的工作犬，普通的训练和遛弯不能满足它。换句话说，完全不是家庭宠物的材料，请不要冲动哦！

Here is an instrumental piece of music written and performed by my dog Missy and I

I use this music to sing songs to her. I make up silly lyrics, and she seems to enjoy hearing her name. I don’t sing any of those lyrics on this recording. Instead I have tried to capture her characteristics. Sampling her toys.. And her bark…

I hope it demonstrates what a great animal she is.
