In the dim morning light, a bulldozer grinds up the ground which has been untouched for thousands of years, harboring endangered seeds, plants, insects, fungi, a biodiverse ecosystem that is now irretrievably lost.

We could have done so much better, #Illinois.

I won't post about this any more.

It's just incredibly sad. And it speaks to the way we handle the entire planet.

Rockford Airport in #Illinois is at this very moment destroying an ancient prairie, home to endangered plants and insects.

We fought to keep it intact but big business and politics won out.

It was a treasured ecosystem, one of the last of its kind.

We fought as hard as we could.

This happens because a few of us feel passionately, but too few of us care enough.

All that's left is to bear witness.
