We recently passed the halfway point of my "Long #Summer" #reading #challenge (lasting from May Day to Halloween this year, or as we pagans know it, #Beltane to #Samhain), so I thought I'd check in with the list publicly to see how it's going. It's been a fascinating summer of reading, although my numbers are ridiculously low, just 12 books (or book series) finished, out of 32 I had hoped to be done with by now. But that's fine -- I'm only doing it for fun, and it's certainly fun!

Pondering which of the pagan festivals have been incorporated into film, ideally (folk) horror:
Beltane: Wicker Man
Litha: Midsommar
Samhain: tons of Halloween movies but anything more "traditional"?
Yule: any pagan non-Christmas films?

At #Beltane, the #Milesians landed as the 6th immigrant group in #Ireland. They bowed to the Danann kings and retreated 9 waves off the island to land now `officially`. The #druids sent spells towards the #Milesians, unleashing a hurricane.
However, the mighty #druid #Amergin made sure that the wild storm collapsed.

I just had the most amazing couple of months with the Beltane Fire Society. I dressed as a Goblin and acted the fool while ensuring other groups were looked after. It was wonderful and wholesome and so much fun!

Just watched The Wicker Man, the real one, not Hollywood's disastrous, mess that completely missed the mark of the original (1973) film.
I'd forgotten how damned relaxing that film is and also perfect for this time of year.

I've been taking a bit of a break from some bits of the net the past few weeks, busy with work, and life, and getting organised for the start of UK LARP season, but I'm hoping to start filtering back into the fedi more now.

Have some pics of cute #CatsOfMastodon along with a small offering I made for a quiet #Beltane offering where I sat in the sun and prayed and drummed, and also a bee that I managed to capture mid takeoff from a dandelion :)
