This is horribly tragic. While yes, protected bike lanes would help, we also need drivers to have better practices.

“The Dutch Reach” should be used when opening doors, reach with your opposite hand to open a door forcing yourself to look behind you when opening the car door. I’m still building the muscle memory for this.

A7. Yeah, really a lot. Honestly the experience in #Berkeley has made me disgusted with a lot of the people here (who want to call themselves "environmentalists” and also fight for parking spaces over bike lanes) and unfortunately some of our city leadership, as well. These fights are really hard and never-ending, not just here but everywhere. I'm glad to work on it but it can be super discouraging, and I wish I had hope for more change in my lifetime.
