Being such a personal project means that there is a depth of emotion that his other films don't quite capture, but at the same time it really explains so many of the themes and ideas of Spielbergs other films.

It's meta-fictional in the best ways, and yet it also uses a lot of standard storytelling techniques.

Lori and I watched THE FABELMANS which is the latest film by Steven Spielberg. It's essentially an autobiographical film about his family and how he came to love movies. It is one of my favorite Spielberg films, which is a stunning achievement in itself.
