Would anyone like to #Betaread a #shortstory collection?

There is no money in it, but you get to read some nice stories that are like "Final Destination" meets "The Monkey's Paw" (W. W. Jacobs, 1902), and a little bit Roald Dahl with a hint of Poe.

There are 24 stories and a total of 138 pages, and I plan to publish the collection around November.

If you feel up to it, I would need you to review and identify any flow issues in the stories, or any facts or plot elements that seem off.

Won't be needing it until probably next week - but is anyone interested in betaing a #cozyfantasy novelette featuring lesbian otter shifters? It's not *quite* a standalone, but I'll give you all the info you need (which isn't much).

I'll beta several short pieces or one of roughly equal length in return!

Time to dip my toe back into the cold, choppy waters of the beta read. For me, this is the triumph of hope over experience.

I'm in awe of writers who can assemble a "street team." An army of beta- and ARC-readers ready and willing to provide incisive feedback prior to release and post reviews after. My first attempt at a beta read attracted a single comment from one reader (at least it was "I really enjoyed it!"), and a question from another about why one particular group of characters spent all their time drinking and arguing. For my second attempt, 8 people from my newsletter mailing list volunteered. None commented. Zilch. Nada. I even got jack from Jack.

So wish me luck with this one. Vastly reduced numbers but at least they've left reviews in the past, and I know they love the world. Hope will triumph!

Working on a #betaread and just realized something I've been running into lately with fiction: POVs switching without a break in the paragraph.

A break feels a bit more like a 'camera switch' without this it feels like a finger snap and now we're in someone else's view. It can be disorienting.
