Today I read a very interesting sample chapter of a rich, humorous and thought provoking fantasy tale which reminded me of Terry Pratchett’s Discworld by Walter Thinman @Saposcat . Now I have received the full manuscript from Walter, and look forward to reading it. Yes. Pearls is currently being read/listened too by my best friend for intensive #editing , which is why I'm delaying giving it to #betareaders .

#AmWriting Gotten fed up struggling to start a new WIP so I've decided to pants my way through a short story and see where it leads. Something completely different but they're thoughts that have been bubbling up the last few days.
On an unrelated note, how long should I leave #betareaders to do their thing? My screenplay is only 98 pages but it's been a while since I heard anything from anyone. 😕

Think I'll put out a proper call for Vapormage #betareaders over the weekend. There's bits I still want to do, but they're supplementary, and I have no clue how to recruit beta readers so I probably should've started a while ago anyway tbh

Beta readers wanted! "The Anomaly" is a sci-fi novel that outgrows traditional genres.

It is a self-contained contemporary urban sci-fi mystery, and the first part of a hard sci-fi space opera.

It is closer to Sense8 than to Star Trek, closer to Contact than to Star Wars.

Works that have influenced it are Star Maker, Foundation, The Birthday of the World, Sense8, Mass Effect, and Killjoys.

Features F/F romance, epic bromance, an AI PoV, and aliens.

So, life hasn't let me get on quite as quickly as I'd like on the #editing #PearlsontheRoad and I'm not quite ready for beta readers yet. I will repeat this call again when it's ready, and I swear it won't be long now, but if anyone is interested in beta reading this let me know!

Finally received my beta readers' reports! They are encouraging & useful. 📖

I learned I can trust my inner editor instincts. (3 of 4 readers each saw when something didn't quite work at the very points I was worried about.)💪

I also learned that the best betas are from your target audience. The 1 that wasn't (much younger, a newish writer, & perhaps not as well read) missed a lot.🤔

Oh and I write great sex scenes.😉
