Forced to get a taxi to the station today (nowhere safe to leave my bike for a few days)

Of course the traffic is appalling because the schools are back. So the taxi took longer than it would take me to cycle.

And people do this regularly!

Question for the #cyclists:

I'm looking for a new commuter bike for around £800. I live in the UK, cycling along a route which is mainly next to the sea: lots of salt air, lots of damp weather, a lot of potholes and a lot of wind

I'm after a bike which is comfy, can take mudguards and a rear rack as I have a pannier that carries my computer to work. Disc brakes & dropped handlebars are also requirements.

What would you recommend?

If ever there was a time to make the argument for #BetterByBike then it's right now.

Had a couple of loose ends in various shops around #Cork yesterday and it was a joy to nip from one place and then on to the next.

Judging by the traffic gridlock around the quays and in Douglas, I must've saved myself at least an hour had I attempted the same list by car.
